Jane Bowring is a contemporary jewellery designer from Adelaide. She has lived and worked in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide making jewellery since 1998 and is a graduate of University of South Australia and Sydney College of the Arts.
“I manufacture jewellery for everyday wearability and personal expression in simple techniques and repetitions with mixed metals, gems and minerals from the iconic Edments Building in Adelaide, hub of the South Australian jewellery industry.
I have a parallel art jewellery practice in wire working that has run alongside my production work since 2010 which I will be exploring in the project space at Northcity4 during my time in Melbourne. This is a more focused exploration of a specific technique. The time consuming process reminds me to slow down and to fully experience the joy of the build, to appreciate the more subtle moments of personal creativity as i make small changes in form and technique, and to enjoy the internal reflection that comes with making.”
