Cassandra is an emerging artist and recent graduate of RMIT University where she completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), specialising in Gold & Silversmithing. In 2018 she was a finalist in Craft Victoria’s Fresh! Awards and she received the Future Leaders Award.
Cassandra’s work is informed by her experiences of the natural and urban landscapes. It manifests her appreciation and wonder of the natural formations of coral, together with the energy and liveliness of graffiti found within the urban environment. The generous use of colour and the constructed forms are the result of the merging of this opposing imagery. Her process uses material exploration; engaging with them, manipulating and transforming them. Through the hand cutting and piecing together of individual components and materials, she constructs intricate and layered objects for wearing that aim to evoke from the viewer/wearer a sensational and emotional response.
