Ali Limb is a contemporary jeweller, she graduated from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts in Gold and Silver-smithing in 1989. Ali was co-founder and director of Melbourne contemporary jewellery gallery e.g.etal for 11 years, she has served on the board of Craft Victoria and has been an active member of Melbourne’s vibrant craft community for the past 20 odd years. She is currently studying Shiatsu & Oriental therapies part-time and is a co-founder & studio space tenant at Northcity4.
Over the past 20 years Ali’s work has been largely commission based, designing and making contemporary, precious jewellery pieces for clients to mark sentimental and important occasions in their lives.
Ali has travelled widely. Her work has more recently been inspired by the use of colour and placement of small objects in Japanese culture. Her curiosity is quenched by the tiny details in everyday life such as grass growing through a crack in the pavement or seed-pods from native plants.
Ali is currently exploring new ways to work and is enjoying making one off and limited edition works. Her work is available through e.g.etal in Melbourne and ame gallery in Hong Kong.
